Terms and Conditions

Agreement

These terms are a contract between you and us, the operator of ctxual. By creating an account or using ctxual, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use ctxual.

Your account

You sign in with your mobile phone number and connect a Gmail mailbox you own. You are responsible for that number and that mailbox, for keeping it secure, and for everything done through ctxual while signed in as you. Tell us promptly at the ctxual project on GitHub if you believe someone else has gained access.

Acceptable use

ctxual is for personal use with your own mailbox. You agree not to:

• connect a mailbox you do not own or have no right to use;
• use ctxual to send spam, harass anyone, or break the law;
• attempt to access other users' data or interfere with the service;
• reverse engineer, resell or misuse the service.

We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules.

The assistant's output

ctxual uses an AI model to read your mail and produce summaries, reminders and draft replies. That output can be wrong, incomplete or out of date. Read everything before you act on it. ctxual only sends, archives or labels email when you confirm the action in chat, and you are responsible for any email actually sent from your account, including its content and its recipients.

SMS terms

Program description. Signing in to ctxual sends one text message: the verification code you request. Separately and optionally, you can choose to receive recurring one-to-one text messages from ctxual: reminders about email you owe a reply to or are waiting on, and answers to questions you text about your own inbox. You choose this with an unchecked box at sign-up or the "Turn texts on" button in your account; consent is not a condition of signing up or using the service. ctxual never sends marketing or promotional messages by SMS.

Cancelling. You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text STOP to the number that messaged you. After you send STOP, we will send you a reply to confirm that you have been unsubscribed, and you will no longer receive SMS messages from us. If you want to join again, text START to the same number, and we will start sending SMS messages to you again.

Help. If you are experiencing issues with the messaging program you can reply with the keyword HELP for more assistance, or you can get help directly at the ctxual project on GitHub.

Carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Rates and frequency. As always, message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from us and to us from you. Message frequency varies with your email activity. If you have any questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider.

Privacy. If you have any questions regarding privacy, please read our privacy policy. We do not share, sell, or provide your mobile phone number or messaging consent data to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

No warranty

ctxual is provided “as is” and “as available”. We make no promises that it will be accurate, reliable, uninterrupted or free of errors, and we disclaim all warranties to the extent permitted by law. ctxual depends on Google, Anthropic, Twilio and other providers we do not control.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost data, lost email, missed replies or lost profits arising from your use of ctxual. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, or one hundred US dollars, whichever is greater. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as the law allows.

Changes to the service

ctxual is a small product and it will change. We may add, modify or remove features, or stop offering the service, at any time. Where practical we will give notice, but we are not obliged to keep any feature running.

Termination

You can stop using ctxual at any time by texting STOP, disconnecting Gmail, or asking us to delete your account. We may suspend or terminate your access if you break these terms or if we discontinue the service. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as the warranty and liability terms, continue to apply.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, let you know within the service. Continuing to use ctxual after that means you accept the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict of law rules.
